UrbanRider ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the UrbanRider app ("App"), a navigation application designed for max-50 km/h moped travel.   • Purpose: To provide navigation, route planning, and weather-based features (e.g., displaying weather icons in settings).

  • Data Collected: Precise location data (latitude and longitude) when you grant location access.

  • Collection Method: Via Apple’s Core Location framework, with your explicit permission.

  • Usage: Used for real-time navigation, fetching weather data via Apple WeatherKit, and calculating routes.

1.2 User Preferences and Saved Destinations

  • Purpose: To personalize your experience and store frequently used destinations.

  • Data Collected: Settings (e.g., voice navigation, battery-saving mode) and saved destinations (e.g., name, address, coordinates of “Home”).

  • Collection Method: Stored locally on your device via UserDefaults when you configure settings or save destinations.

  • Usage: To apply your preferences and display saved or recent destinations in the App.

1.3 Weather Data

  • Purpose: To display weather icons (e.g., sun, cloud, rain) next to sliders in the App’s settings.

  • Data Collected: Current weather conditions (e.g., clear, cloudy, rainy) based on your location.

  • Collection Method: Fetched via Apple WeatherKit using your device’s location, with your permission.

  • Usage: To enhance the user interface with weather-based icons.

1.4 Non-Personal Data

  • Purpose: To monitor App performance.

  • Data Collected: Anonymous diagnostic data (e.g., crash reports) via Apple’s system frameworks.

  • Collection Method: Automatically collected by iOS, with your opt-in consent for diagnostics.

1.5 Usage Data

  • Purpose: To understand user engagement with our Privacy Policy.

  • Data Collected: A record of whether you tapped the Privacy Policy link in the App’s settings.

  • Collection Method: Stored locally on your device via UserDefaults when you tap the link.

  • Usage: To confirm users have accessed the Privacy Policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide navigation features, including route planning and lane guidance.

  • Display weather icons in the settings based on current conditions.

  • Store and apply your preferences and saved destinations.

  • Improve the App’s performance and reliability through anonymous diagnostics.

All data processing occurs on your device. We do not transmit your data to our servers or third parties, except as described in Section 3.

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not share your data with third parties, except:

  • Apple WeatherKit: Location data is sent to Apple’s WeatherKit service to fetch weather conditions. Apple’s privacy practices govern this data. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.

  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

4. Data Storage and Security

  • Storage: Location data, preferences, and saved destinations are stored locally on your device via UserDefaults. Weather data is not persistently stored.

  • Security: We use Apple’s secure frameworks to protect your data. However, no system is completely secure, and you use the App at your own risk.

  • Retention: Data persists until you delete it (e.g., remove saved destinations) or uninstall the App.

5. Your Choices and Rights

  • Location Access: You can disable location access in your device’s Settings, but this will limit navigation and weather features.

  • Saved Destinations: You can delete saved destinations in the App’s settings.

  • Data Access and Deletion: All data is stored on your device. To access or delete it, use the App’s settings or uninstall the App.

  • GDPR Rights (EU Users): You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Contact us at privacy@urbanrider.app to exercise these rights.

  • CCPA Rights (California Users): You have the right to know, delete, and opt-out of data sales. We do not sell your data.

6. Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have collected such data, contact us at privacy@urbanrider.app.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the App or legal requirements. We will notify you via the App or our website. The updated policy will be effective upon posting at urbanrider.app/privacy-policy.
